Beecology Honey and Bee Natural Products {Holiday Gift Guide 2012 Review}

I love honey. It is nature’s wonderful, versatile gift.

You can eat it to sweeten just about anything and for a long time it has been used for many natural remedies from skin to coughs. (Did you know a tablespoon of honey will help quiet a cough?)

I was very excited to try Beecology and their wonderful, natural line of products. I was sent a Natural Honey and Peppermint Body Wash, Buzz Balm Peppermint Lip Balm, Original Honey Hand and Body Cream, and Honey Oatmeal Peppermint Body Soap.

The first item I tried was the Buzz Balm. I found it to be soothing on my winter lips, non-greasy and non-sticky as well as have a great peppermint scent and taste. I think this is the perfect lip balm for cold winter days. It protected my lips from the cold winds and since I have a lip balm “thing”, I loved it a lot.

Next, I tried the Original Honey Hand and Body Cream. I love that this is thick and satiny. It did help with my dry elbows, a problem area for me in the winter, especially. It says it is “fragrance free”, but to me it had a very light oatmeal type scent. It was not bothersome though.

The Natural Honey and Peppermint Body Wash was an experience to say the least. I loved the way it smelled, but I quickly noticed that you should be careful where you use it. I have somewhat sensitive skin and I used it on my full body. It bothered my face, making it feel tingly and almost leaving a burning sensation. I also used it on my sensitive lady parts. Big mistake. I had to immediately wash it off as it was extremely uncomfortable.

Although the bar soap was also containing peppermint, I did not have a problem with it on any part of my body. I got the invigorating scent I liked in the body wash, without the the harsh reaction. It left my skin smelling pleasant and feeling soft with no film.

The Beecology line of products is all made in the USA from what was started as a single beehive. It has grown into a wonderful company that is a good corporate citizen. Beecology donates to Sweet Year, a charity organization that helps people donate to other charities. 10% of the profits of each item sold in the store go to help the 501 (c) (3) status charity of your choice. Now that is a “sweet” deal!

Add Beecology to your list of gifts to buy this year for that special someone or maybe even yourself!
