Caron Designs

I absolutely love re-purposed and up-cycled items. Caron Designs is about art meeting functionality and beauty and she uses recycled glass to create unique and whimsical products.

I was sent a Glass Sun Catcher to review and I loved it from the moment it came out of the box. I hung it right in my kitchen window and loved the way it sparkled and shined. One thing that set Caron Designs apart is the fact that each product is hand made and kiln fired.

Caron designs has many items that would be perfect for any celebration to add beauty and whimsey to it. Wouldn’t this Star shaped Glass Sun Catcher be beautiful to hang up for a wedding?

Not only does Caron Designs have ornaments like the one I was sent, but she has Jewelry (even for pets!), Soap Dishes and unique items such as this business card holder:

The process for making the items is a long and has a series of steps. After the design is complete. the glass is cut from recycled glass from various sources such as windows, then fired in a kiln at 1500 degrees. The cold work starts to finalize each piece. All pieces are handmade and have a lot of work put into them from design to finish. Each piece is tested for color and pattern.

Pros:

I loved the piece I got. It is very beautiful and came to me well packed and intact, matted on a board. It was very well made and looked beautiful when the sun caught it in my window.

Cons:

The only thing I think that could have been better was the presentation of the product. Maybe a box or some nice wrapping. It seemed incomplete. I also wish there were more to choose from on the site and some of the colored options that are available for certain products were showcased.

Verdict:

I think these products would be best suited for gifts for occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and house-warming parties. It is clear that a lot of work and inspiration is drawn to create such lovely pieces.

To purchase:

See the Caron Designs website to purchase as well as find her items sold at many boutiques nationwide. (In Montana, I saw you could find her designs sold in Helena).
