Kidz Gear Headphones {2012 Holiday Gift Guide Review + Giveaway)

Kids love music. At least my kid does. She has no choice though since I have raised her around it since she was born. Even when she was in my womb, I used to play music for her and I even went dancing at non-smoking clubs all the way up until I had her.

“Never mind me! I’m just a very pregnant lady gettin’ down!”

I was so happy to find Kidz Gear! They are headphones in the hottest “DJ style” that are made especially for kids.

Syncrohearts {Holiday Gift Guide}

With our busy schedules, most couples often overlook how important it is to connect on a deeper level on a regular basis. My husband and I had the pleasure to try out a board game that promises to help us do just that. Introducing SyncroHearts!

Syncrohearts is a game for couples to help them explore deeper into themselves, their relationship with one another and even their intimate lives together. It is set up much like a “typical” board game in that it has a die, game pieces and cards that have instructions on it. You and your partner move around the board following the instructions.

Campus Book Rentals

While attending college a few years back, I was shocked at how expensive the books could be when one would just be using it for a single semester that was maybe 3-4 months long! I think that first semester I spent over $500 on books and I didn’t even have enough money to buy all the books I needed. I just borrowed or studied with others and took a lot of notes. This was definitely a disadvantage for me since I missed some things that could only be found in the textbook.

Campus Book Rentals would have been a great resource at the time. I wish I had known about it, so I am here to let all you struggling college students know about it so you aren’t “that student” in the class asking to borrow someone else’s book all the time.

At Campus Book Rentals, you can rent your textbooks per semester or how ever long you need them for a way smaller cost than buying one. Typically, you will save between 40-90% off bookstore prices to rent. This is a significant savings! To make it even cheaper, the books you rent offer free shipping both ways!

To demonstrate how much of a savings there is, look at the cost of this book.

To buy it, I found that it was listed around $75-$80 and it was even more when I bought it for my Culinary Courses. To rent it on Campus Book Rentals, it is only $27.84. That is a savings of nearly $50!

If you are worried about not being able to highlight in the textbooks, worry no more! Campus Book Rentals allows you to do just that!

There are flexible rental periods as well. Pay for how much time you need!

Still not sure? Check out this short video on how easy Campus Book Rentals is to use:

Something about Campus Book Rentals I really love is how they partner with Operation Smile.

Operation smile is a non-profit organization that helps children around the world who are born with cleft pallets get the often life saving surgery they need to thrive. A cleft pallet can make it difficult to speak, eat and even make it impossible for an infant to latch on to nurse. Having this surgery not only helps them in the immediate time, but helps them be able to grow up healthy and even makes them more employable as adults.

Campus Book Rentals donates with each textbook rented!

Philips-Norelco Vacuum Stubble and Beard Trimmer {Holiday Gift Guide 2012}

Earlier this year, my husband and I reviewed the Philips Norelco Body Groom. He loved it for his “manscaping”. I loved it because it allowed him to do more of it on his own. ;)

This time around, we are reviewing another awesome Philips-Norelco product called the Vacuum Stubble and Beard Trimmer.

Honestly, this is an answer to my prayers as the sole cleaner of the bathroom sink! This amazing device not only trims facial hair, but it has a vacuum feature built right in! This has been great for keeping those annoying facial trimmings out of “my” sink!

The trimmer itself has settings that go from [Read more...]

Wee Forest Folk {Review + Giveaway}

I have always loved little trinkets, especially those that depict animals in human-like form.

The folks at Wee Forest Folk have done just that to my delight. I love the name of the company, as it describes just what they are. The tiniest little creatures of the woods often are little mice. The way they often move around so fast, they do almost appear to be incredibly busy with their little mouse chores. Wee Forest Folk shows us an adorable inside look at the fantasy world of what these buy little creatures could be up to with a little imagination.

I was sent a Wee Forest Folk mouse of my own to review and treasure. The little cutie I received was a mouse in a stocking with a hat and a tag that says “Santa” attached. It is only about an inch and a half tall.Don’t let my bad picture fool you. These are absolutely well made and detailed completely!

Each lovingly detailed mouse miniature starts as a hand carved clay figure that is cast and sent off to be made in the “mouse factory”. Each and every miniature is hand painted by talented artists and are one of a kind.

Wee Forest Folk is a family owned business in Carlisle, MA. The company has been around for 40 years!

There are so many mice to collect!

After looking at the website, I would love to own several of the pieces. My husband would love the mouse in the VW beetle :)

Wee Forest Folk would make delightful gifts this Christmas season.

The generous folks at Wee Forest Folk have offered to give one lucky reader of Saved By Grace a Wee Forest Folk miniature in a Christmas design. This giveaway ends 12/15. (approx. $90 ARV)

There is nothing more personalized than a gift that has a photo of a loved on on it.

Diet Doc {Review}

I will be starting the hCG diet in a little while. ( I had originally planned to do it after Thanksgiving, but it may be my New Year’s resolution due to my busy Christmas schedule!) I was sent 3 pre-mixed soup mixes from Diet Doc to try. These soup mixes are easy to use and hCG diet compatible containing no sugars. You may be wondering what the hCG diet is. I suggest you read the article on Diet Doc’s website to find out more about it.

I was sent the Chicken gumbo, Steak Soup and Chilli Seasoning. Each having around 20 calories per serving.

I made the Chilli seasoning first and it was so easy to make. In an effort to save money and be healthier, I have recently started eating vegetarian versions of my favorites. I made the Diet Doc Chilli with beans and fresh tomatoes. The chilli was delicious, but I felt it was a tad too spicy. I added a bit of soy milk to make it creamier (allowed in small amounts on the diet) and that helped a lot.

All you do is add the powdered soup mix to water and let it hydrate for 10 minutes and ad your meat/veggies in and simmer.

I also tried the Diet Doc Steak soup and Chicken Gumbo. Honestly, I didn’t really like either of these. I am kind of spoiled I suppose. I like real gumbo too much and this was not as thick and good (fattening!) as I am used to. I could tell it was diet food and I wasn’t very happy with it. The steak soup was way too salty in my opinion and it lacked substance. I am also just not much of a fan of broth type soups.

You can find more soup mixes as well as shakes, bars and other food and information about the “What is hCG “ page the Diet Doc website.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Wellness Grain Free Cat Food {2012 Holiday Gift Guide Review}

My cat, Mac, (otherwise known as “Mr. Whiskers”) Is not picky about his food at all. I had heard that most cats can be this way. I was really happy to find out he isn’t.

Unfortunately, this also means he will eat what I call “Cat Junk Food”. I won’t mention brands, but this is generally the lower priced cat food that tastes good (to him, I personally have never tasted it), but has very little to offer in terms of nutrition and often containers fillers of grain that will make him fat and unhealthy. He is a Maine Coon. He doesn’t need help in the size department.

For these reasons, I was happy to review Wellness’ line of cat food. I was sent a bag of Core dry food, Pure Delights Turkey and Salmon Jerky and 3 cans of canned grain free cat food in Salmon, Chicken and Turkey.

Wellness makes high quality grain free cat food [Read more...]
