How To Create Stamped Metal Jewelry #DarbySmart

how to make stamped metal jewelry

I love to craft when I have time. It’s one of the ways my daughter and I spend our bonding time. Recently, we made some stamped jewelry using metal stamps, a hammer and some plain pieces of metal to create fun lettered pendants.

Stamped Metal jewelry is an easy, no mess project that is fun and doesn’t take much time, however, it is for older kids 10+ years of age with supervision.

How to Create Stamped Metal Jewelry

First you will need to gather your supplies. I was lucky enough to be sent the supplies for this DIY Crafts project by Darby Smart, a wonderful service for the crafty person you know (or yourself!). You can buy kits to make projects that range from as little as $12 to as much as $99. You can also get a monthly subscription craft/DIY box for only $19. Each kit comes from awesome craft designers and is filled with everything you will need to make your project. There are many projects from jewelry to home decor and I personally feel this is the most awesome way to do some crafting! You can have the projects shipped right to you and there is no standing in line or hunting through the craft store!

In case you don’t have the project box from Darby Smart, here are the supplies you will need:

  • A metal Stamping Block
  • Metal Stamping Blanks
  • Design Stamps
  • Metal Stamping Hammer
  • Project tape that sticks to metal

Simply pick out your pieces that you want to stamp. I used the ones that came in the kit and they were great for making a variety of projects from earrings to necklaces.

Place your metal blank on the stamping block. Using tape, fasten it down. This will keep it in place. You can do it without the tape, but it is a little more complicated if you do that.

Making sure your stamp is turned the right way (remember-it will be backwards to you, but come out right on the jewelry) gently give it a couple pounds with the hammer like you would if you were hammering a nail in. Unless you are using extra thick metal of some sort, you won’t need to hammer very hard.

Continue this process until your jewelry is complete!

See how easy that was? This kit is also great because the metal stamps and stamping block will come in handy for other projects!

  1. I like hand stamped jewelry. I have a few pieces. I think that it would be nice to make my own Jewelry. Your necklaces turned out really pretty.

  2. I’m super crafty and I ALWAYS like trying new stuff, I crochet and whatnot. I’ve never done this though and it’s always intrigued me, though I figured it would be much harder! This might be my next big summer project! How cool that you can order a subscription box too.
