Dear Diary, Guess What? {Holiday Gift Guide}

My daughter is a creative little lady. She loves to write stories and songs. She is a lot like me as a child. I loved books that would inspire me to be creative and “fill in the blanks”. I was given the opportunity to have her review the “Dear Diary, Guess What?!” book made just for girls like her.

I couldn’t be more pleased with this fill in the blanks style diary. It was illustrated by a 10 year old girl and written by her mom. I love that they wrote a book together!

The diary is jam packed with questions that ask little girls to answer honestly. From simple questions like, “What is your favorite color?” to more complex ones that ask them to write in their goals.

The book comes with a cute bobble head style pen that has a suction cup base so little princesses won’t lose their favorite new writing utensil.

My biggest joy was seeing my daughter go after the book’s questions and pages with gusto and do something other than watch cartoons. She couldn’t get enough. The first day I showed it to her, her face lit up and she excitedly filled out the questions in the book for hours. When I asked her what she thought of the book, she said, “Momma, it’s the best diary ever! I am so happy you gave it to me. I love that the book has pictures drawn by a girl my age!” Then she cautioned me not to read her diary because it was a secret between her and God. (her own words, as she giggled) I know she would share with me if I asked though.

Thumbing through it, prior to surprising my daughter with it, I loved that it asked Godly questions and nothing was questionable. There was even a section in the book for girls to fill out their favorite Bible verses. She let me see one of her pages and I was proud to say that she wrote she loved all the ones about Jesus in there and could not pick.

This was a great book for her. She went to see her Grandma and asked if she could take the book. She absolutely loves it and I know your little girl will too! This is definitely something to keep in mind for a Christmas gift! The book and pen sell for just $13.00. Make sure you keep up with what the author, Dr. Cherrye S Vasquez and her awesome artist daughter are up to on their blog as well. There, you will find information not only on this book, but others as well as anti-bullying messages and help Dr. Vasquez get signatures to help change funding for anti-bullying programs in schools.

I would also encourage you to “like” Books that Sow on Facebook and Follow along on twitter and pinterest as well.
