I love when learning and play come together nicely. With the Eitech Solar Construction kit, play and science meet. The toy allows the child to build several different toys from a windmill to helicopter that run on solar power. This not only allows for play, but a teaching moment between parent and child.
The toy is made in Germany, from high quality metal. It includes the solar motor, solar panel, over 300 pieces and tools. I have to say, there are a lot of little tiny pieces. This toy is definitely not intended for young children.
I think I may have been more excited to play with it than my daughter. Jaeda, who is 9, was curious, but when she saw how many pieces there were, she got a tad overwhelmed. I had her help me put it together by finding the pieces I needed. The book that came with the set was just pictures and offered no written instruction. At first, I was worried I may not be able to put it together, but I actually found it easy to understand just through pictures.
It took a little while, but we finally got it together. It was fun to work together as a team and make something really neat! We decided to make the car.
I loved how the construction set came with all the tools needed. No need to hunt around hubby’s toolbox! I also felt the quality was very high with this toy. Here is our little race car just before we added the solar panel:
The moment of truth came when we took it outside to see if it worked. Unfortunately, the day we built it, it was pretty overcast and it didn’t work very well. However, that didn’t stop us! We took it out again on a very sunny day and my daughter and I were super excited to see it go!
My daughter loves science and with all the talk about solar power, and some of our residents in our city adding the panels to their homes, this was the perfect way to not only talk about it, but demonstrate it!
The toy is recommended to ages 8 and up.
