I have long wanted to try the wand style of curling irons. For some reason, I was never good at using a standard curling iron with the clip. I had short hair all my childhood and a good portion of my teenage years. As an adult, I started growing my hair out and because I had never had hair to style, I had no idea what to do with it, so I just threw it up in a ponytail. It dawned on me that there was no point to having long hair if I didn’t figured out how to play with it!
Now, I am embarrassed to show this, but here is what my hair looks like dry and brushed. It is a straw-like mess!
What is so great about the curling wand I tried from Flat Iron Experts is that I found it so easy to use. Even a “hair newbie” like myself had no problem using it!
The model I used was the KQC iStick Tourmaline Ceramic Clip-free Curler. I loved the color it came in. For some reason, I have always liked the bold, modern look of red and black together.
The KQC iStick came with a glove for using with it to avoid burns. This was an awesome addition because one thing I do not like about tradition clip irons is the fact that you cannot really hold the hair in the exact place you need it to stay. The glove protected pretty well, although I admit, it would probably be better if it was a little thicker due to the fact that I could feel the heat of the iron and although it did not burn me, it was uncomfortably hot.
The barrel of the KQC iStick turns. This makes it very easy for you to quickly curl without having to twist your writ and hold it in all sorts of uncomfortable ways. I also liked that the barrel was thick at the bottom and thinner at the top, allowing for more natural looking curls and waves and small, tight curls if you desire that.
The heat settings on the KQC iStick are off/mid/Hi and the iron heats up very fast. No need to pre-heat like many other similar brands. It was ready to go in about a minute. The Hi setting heats up to 430 degrees F. Because i gets so warm so fast, it also does not require you to hold the iron in place while styling for long periods of time to get the curls you desire. I found that a quick 10 seconds was all I needed for each curl. My standard iron needs to stay for at least 25-30 seconds per curl on it’s highest setting.
The KQC iStick also cools fast. After unplugging, it took minimal time before it was ready to put away.
Using ceramic technology, the KQC iStick also helps your hair retain moisture.
I also tried out the KQC Thermal Shine Spray with my iStick. The Thermal Shine Spray is designed to add additional shine and protection to hair when using heated styling tools. I found it to be somewhat greasy, but I do think it did it’s job. Just look at how shiny my hair is!
Remember that picture at the top of this post with my hair’s damaged look? Just look how great it now looks with the help of the KQC iStick and Thermal Shine spray! I think I will be keeping this one in my arsenal, and just maybe, I will be wearing my hair down more!
The KQC iStick sells for $149.00 on Flat Iron Experts, but they have dropped the price to $108.99! This is a professional grade curling iron!
thank you for the info, looks good but my favorite now is the karmin g3 clipless, it’s amazing and makes pretty long lasting curls.
