Nowadays, mosquitoes are not only annoying, but they also carry diseases and can be harmful. Check out these tips on how to naturally repel mosquitoes from your personal space.
How to Naturally Repel Mosquitoes
Lavender- If you are a firm user of lavender oil, you are in good hands! Lavender is said to be a natural way to repel mosquitoes from your body. Perhaps even diffusing a lavender essential oil when outside can help keep those pesky mosquitoes away. Using a carrier oil or some sort of oil and mixing the lavender oil in with it has also been said to work wonders when trying to get rid of mosquitoes.
Garlic- Whether you can stand to eat garlic or not, it’s said to be an awesome mosquito repellent! How awesome is that? Garlic isn’t expensive at all, which also helps stay under budget for when you want to repel mosquitoes from your personal space. Eating garlic has a way of “helping” your body naturally repel mosquitoes. You can also put a few pieces of garlic outside and see if they helps you to repel some of those mosquitoes.
Eliminate mosquito attractions from your yard- Sometimes your backyard is an oasis for mosquitoes. Spend some time going out there and figuring out what is attracting them to your yard. For example, you may have a lot of water in your backyard from past rains that are attracting those mosquitoes to your yard. Mosquitoes are also attracted to body heat and humans in general, which is why it’s important to repel them when you can. Consider getting rid of
Put a few bats in your backyard- If you’re really looking to make your yard mosquito free, you’re going to love this next one. I heard it on the news and I’m not brave enough to try it, but you may be. Attract bats and let the roam in your backyard. By doing this, the bats will literally eat every mosquito you have in your backyard. It’s said that bats can eat their weight in mosquitoes each day. This may not work if you really hate bats, but what do you have to lose besides a bunch of mosquitoes? Check out these tips for attracting bats to your yard.
Smoke away the mosquitoes- Smoke is supposed to help deter mosquitoes from biting. Maybe a bonfire is also in the works. Sometimes it is whatever it takes to get rid your yard of those mosquitoes. And I’m thinking a bonfire doesn’t sound too bad right now.
Plant some mosquito-repelling plants and herbs- Planting herbs and plants such as citronella, lemon balm, lavender, peppermint and basil can naturally repel mosquitoes from your yard. Try planting some in post near where you like to sit such as a balcony or patio.
