Soft Claws for your kitty!

I have a very large Maine Coon. He likes to play what I like to refer to as the “Swiping Game”. He sits on his cat tree and makes a swipe at anyone who walks by. Sometimes its fun other times, he gets a claw in and it hurts!

Although he likes to play this way, he is very good about only clawing up his cat furniture. However, he likes to “knead” his claws into you when you are cuddling with him on your lap.

That’s why I was excited to partner with Soft Claws!

Soft Claws are caps that go over trimmed claws and keep them from being sharp. Now Mac can knead my leg all he wants and it doesn’t bother me and I can cuddle with my favorite furball.

Soft Claws are easy to apply. I did it all on my own but I can see where having someone hold the cat while you apply would be easier. Mac tolerated one paw at a time. I would do one paw, then come back a bit later when he was sleepy and relaxed and do the second. He wasn’t sure what to think of them.

I would recommend this product to any cat owner that is done with clawing and scratching but does not want to declaw their cats.

Soft Claws come in a variety of colors and color combinations! There is even a festive Christmas set :) Each set comes with enough for approx 3-4 applications to the front claws and two tubes of adhesive. They lasted on Mac for about a month and I did have to replace some because he found a way to get a couple off. Over all, I would say he tolerates the application process and having them on pretty well.

You can purchase Soft Claws on the Soft Claws website. Make sure you check back on September 1st for your chance to win a set of Soft Claws!

PS. Mac is wearing the new Glitter Gold! We have enjoyed calling him “Mr. Twinkle Toes”!

One of my cats is a real “live wire” and gives me a run for my money any time I try to clip her nails or do anything to her she doesn’t like. I had to have the vet help me apply her Soft Claws. They sure looked cute on her while they lasted, though :)

Have never heard of such products.

This is much better than declawing!

    Interesting…Can he still climb?

    • Christine

Well, he is an indoor only cat, so I am not sure if he would be able to climb. He only climbs onto his “cat tree” here.

This seems like a good idea but aren’t you a little worried that your cat will eat them (Leonardo probably would).

i wonder if they are harder than they look to get on, great idea though, sharp nails really do suck

Soft Claws are so cute. I love the glitter ones. My cats are all declawed, but my friends cats are not. He would love these for them.

I am absolutely 100 % against declawing cats for any reason (inhumane, mutilation, etc.)! Soft Claws are definitely the way to go, and I’ve recommended them numerous times.

    I’m LOVING the glitter gold!

My sister is planning to have her cat declawed in the next couple of weeks, as she’s moving to a new home and purchasing new furniture. I’ll have to let her know about soft claws, first. Thanks so much for sharing.

I have used these before and they are ok until the nails start growing out, but still a better alternative to de-clawing.

I have used these on my dogs - I have 3 under 10 pounds and these are terrific!!!! saves my legs from “Mommy pick me up” scratches…they don’t mean to hurt but those claws, even kept trimmed are unpleasant on bare legs. My daughter got them for her cat and she told me about them. 100% recommended! My 3 week old kitty might be a tad small…but she will have soft paws when the paws are big enough!

I’ve seen these in catalogs and always thought they were pretty cool. But my cats aren’t big scratchers, so I’ve never needed them.

i had some of these but i think you are supposed to clip nails first and i am to scared to do that. my cats don’t stay still for me anyway.

  30. We tried them on my girl kitty when we first got her because our other cat had been declawed. She would chew them off after a few days but luckily by then she was getting along with our other cat. Luckily she never scratched our furniture, just her scratchers!

My house cat is declawed but his back claws are very painful and I have scratches all over my legs from him jumping on and off of me all day. I would love to try Soft Claws on him :)

  33. Trinity Babichuk

i used to use those on my cat, but in pink. I love that glittery gold color you have! In the end, I ended up just getting a really nice scratching post that was magic and I never had to apply the soft claws again!

I’m not sure about these. I think putting them on might be very stressful for the cat & the owner. I think it’s cool they come in a variety of colors and color combinations. What happens if the cat eats them?

  35. Raine

I’ve never need these, my guys are like spoiled brats-lol, they have free run to do anything, but they are good and only scratch on their posts and cardboard. I have reccommended these when I worked at the shelter because declawing is so sickenly barbaric, i just hope people learn about this option and soon declawing is banned as it should be! Thank you for the review and sharing this product!

Would really like to try these as one of my cats in particular will not stop scratching everything in sight! How long does one set last in general, does anybody know?

  37. Charlotte C.

    Mycouch would SO appreciate these!!!

I knew about Soft Claws, but I had no idea they now came in designer colours. Somehow I think this is more for the entertainment of the humans than the cats!

  39. Sarah L

I don’t want to declaw my cat so this would be good to have.
