Buzzy: A Great Product for Taking the Sting out of Shots

The following is a sponsored post. Although it is sponsored by Buzzy, all words, opinions and stories are 100% my own. I was not told what to write by Buzzy. I am always on the lookout for new, innovative products for diabetics and moms. I came across Buzzy a couple months ago and was very excited when they agreed to work with me on review.

Buzzy is a tool for caregivers and personal use that helps to stop the pain of injections and finger pricks that kids and adults encounter with diabetes, routine vaccinations and other inject-able medications. The ay it works is by desensitizing the pain that comes from stings, shots and burns. It works very similar to the way an ice pack does although it is a two part pain reliever. First, it cools the area with it’s icepack “wings” and then, in the same way it helps to rub an area with your hands when you bump it, it soothes with gentle vibration.

Buzzy can be used many times and is so small it fits perfectly in a purse or pocket. The “wings” stay frozen for 10-15 minutes and can be applied before, during and after a shot. This is an amazing product for moms who have kids that must take injectables. I also find it relieving for my own use of insulin. Buzzy truly works for taking the pain out of shots.

Those that are needle-scared, will find a lot of relief from the fright by using Buzzy. I used it during a shot in my abdomen and also for pricking my finger for a blood glucose test. I found that the Buzzy device relieved a lot of the pain associated with both procedures.

Buzzy is great for just bumps and bruises as well that require ice therapy. It’s fun little shape will make any kiddo light up when Buzzy comes out to help them feel better.

Buzzy gets my “seal of approval” for it’s innovation and ability to make my life as a diabetic much less painful! I highly recommend this product and that is why I am placing it on my Diabetic Gift Guide!

Rebound Drug-Free Pain Relief Device {Review + Giveaway}

I was sent a Rebound TENS Device for the sole purpose of doing a review. I was not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

With diabetes and fibromyalgia, I know a bit about chronic pain. I have diabetic neuropathy in my hands, arms, legs and feet. The pain is the kind that can be really debilitating and it comes on out of nowhere, leaving me not only interrupted in my work and play, but left reeling.

Unfortunately for me, I am allergic to NSAIDS (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs like Ibuprofen). This presents a problem because these medications are better for solving the pain of inflammation that an analgesic would be. I am also one of those people that hate to take prescription medications. I don’t like the idea that they are addictive and I don’t like the way they make me feel.

This leaves me with very few options for pain relief. Of course, I use heat packs, warm showers and soaks in the tub, but that is not always convenient and honestly, is only effective up to a certain point.

The Rebound TENS Device

I was really excited to hear that there was another way. It is the Rebound TENS Device. The Rebound TENS Device is a non-prescription pain relief device that uses electro-therapy to help alleviate pain. “TENS” stands for Trans-cutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator. The way it works is with a tingling sensation that the device emits via a small electric pulse to alleviate pain symptoms.

The Rebound TENS device is great because it can be worn for as short as 10-15 minutes at a time or all day. It allows you to not have to reach for pain medication and is available with out a prescription.

While the Rebound TENS device will not cure your chronic pain issue, it is a big step in controlling the symptoms of it.

My personal experience with the Rebound TENS device was amazing! I first used it for pain I was experiencing in my knee. This was due to over-use of it on a particular day that aggravated my nueropathy and made my knee feel like it was buckling. I applied the Rebound TENS Device as illustrated in the manual that comes with it. To be completely honest, I was a skeptic and as soon as I started to find relief almost right away, I swear by this device now.

Since then, I have used it for pain in my hips, wrists and even menstrual pain in my lower back. It has worked for all three locations like a charm. The sensation is kind of strange at first, but you find it soothing and it really is amazing how well it helps alleviate pain of all kinds-sharp, dull, stabbing, you name it. There is a couple places you cannot use the device due to it being electrical impulses. You cannot use it anywhere on the Face, Neck, Head, Groin or anywhere across the chest. If you are hoping this will help with pain there, it unfortunately cannot be used in those areas.

The Rebound TENS device retails for $64.99. Refill pads are $19.99. This is well worth the investment. I was spending at least $20 a month on analgesic over the counter pain relief medication and at least another $20 a month on creams, rubs and heat packs. That doesn’t even count the cost of Rx medications I sometimes used. Not only is this cheaper than all of that, it can be used as long as I want, it is small and can be carried with me on the go and it can be used over and over.
