Celebrate National Allergy Awareness Month with Red Robin’s #CustomizerHub

As any parent of a child with a food allergy knows, it can be complicated to dine out. My daughter has a sensitivity to eggs as we recently discovered and we are still trying to figure out how bad it is, and what makes her react. We have narrowed it down to anything with fresh eggs as being put, but sometimes she gets upset stomach from eating certain things with eggs in it. To avoid a problem, when we dine out, I try to get her things that I know won’t upset her. This can present quite a challenge as some things contain eggs and you don’t even think to ask.

For the most part, we are lucky because most baked or cooked goods are OK. However, because of the risk of cross-contamination with egg products, we are extra cautious when eating out. I am glad Red Robin not only makes the promise to cook their food in a way that prevents this, but also has a long standing reputation of doing so and accommodating special dietary needs.

Red Robin

Recently, Red Robin sent us to try out their Customizer Hub on the website and then in the restaurant. It is an online tool that allows you to choose meals based on what allergens you are trying to avoid so you know what is safe before you even get to the restaurant. You can avoid foods like eggs, gluten, wheat, soy, tree nuts and peanuts. The menu is interactive so you can choose things and look at the ingredients.

You can also customize your meal for nutritional content. I am diabetic, so I was able to look at carbs for all the meals. This was extremely handy for us!

I love that Red Robin cares about customers with food allergies. Not only do they allow you to have access to build a customized order, but they train each team member to help customers select the best options as well as having a special system that alerts the kitchen staff when a customer has a food allergy with bright red bold lettering on the ticket.

If you are an adult dining out, they also now offer a gluten free beer; Omission Pale Ale.

The Red Robin information and gift cards have been provided by Red Robin.
