What is a Buddha Bowl + Buddha Bowl Recipes

What is a Buddha Bowl plus 22 Buddha Bowl Recipes - Buddha Bowls are a great way to get a hardy meal and lots of nutrients in one bowl.

Recently, I came across something interesting on Pinterest. It seems there is something called a Buddha Bowl. Now, from what I gather, this is not a new concept; I just happen to be late to the party. A Buddha Bowl is sometimes also called a Hippie Bowl and essentially what it is, is a simple way to eat a hearty meal that is both healthy and easy to throw together. Honestly, this would be the perfect thing to do for lunches or if you are only cooking for one person. Meal planning would also be very simple with Buddha Bowls on the menu. If you want to try making your own, here are some tips for making them and some awesome recipes I found online to share and get you started.

What is a Buddha Bowl?

A Buddha Bowl (sometimes referred to as a Hippie Bowl, Abundance Bowl or a Nourishment Bowl) is a 4-5 component dish that features interchangeable elements and somewhat resembles a salad. You choose one item from each category and mix and match to create easy dishes. Most of the elements and ingredients are pre-cooked or raw so they are easy to throw together in a few minutes. The idea is you are to add different textures and not necessarily consciously mix them together. You are supposed to consciously eat and enjoy all the different flavors and textures in your bowl.

Buddha bowls do not need to be warm or cold. They can be a mixture or either one. Whatever you desire!

Many Buddha Bowls are vegan or vegetarian, as Buddha himself was mostly this way, but you can certainly add meat if you desire. Here is a simple chart to understand how you choose your ingredients for a Buddha Bowl, but keep in mind that you aren’t limited to what is here.
