When school gets out, it’s time for #SummerGoodies! This means delicious snacks with quality ingredients that you can either buy of make yourself. Specifically, ones that kids can make themselves are always a good thing to have!
Fresh Snacks for Kids to Make On Thier Own This Summer #SummerGoodies #Collective Bias
My daughter is 11 and she is getting more and more independent. I love that she can make her own snacks and some of her own meals and lunches. Sometimes, with a little help from myself, she makes dinner for us all. She really has a deep love for being in the kitchen.
One of her favorite snacks to make is HOT POCKETS® brand sandwiches. Her favorite kind is the Pepperoni Pizza flavor and I am super thrilled they are available in a 12 pk now at Walmart.
She just loves how good they turn out and how she can enjoy real reduced fat cheese and premium meat. I love that they keep her full between meals, which for me, has been hard to do since she is growing like a weed lately!
Another favorite around here is EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit & Veggie Bars and EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit Bars. Not only are they made with real fruit and fruit juice, but they are by far the most refreshing frozen snacks on the market today. I feel good giving them to her since it is hard to make sure she stays hydrated. With flavors like Creamy Coconut and Strawberry Rhubarb, what’s not to like? (Yes! The creamy coconut does actually have bits of real coconut in them!)
Other snacks we enjoy that are hearty and healthy are carrot sticks, fresh cut fruit, cheese sticks and smoothies.
I was eating an EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit Bar the other day and I noticed how much they pretty much taste like a smoothie on a stick so I decided to see what it would taste like to jazz them up a bit. I took them off the stick, grabbed a spoon and mashed it a bit. Then I added some fresh fruit on top and a dollop of Greek yogurt and it was heaven as well as being something my daughter could make on her own! With so many varieties, there are practically a hundred combinations you could make!
- 1 EDY’S® OUTSHINE® Fruit or Fruit & Veggie Bar in flavor of your choice
- Greek Yogurt (I used honey flavor)
- Fresh Fruit
- Take the EDY’S® OUTSHINE® bar off the stick into a bowl and mash with a spoon, gently.
- Top with Greek yogurt and fresh fruit toppings of your choice.
What are some of your favorite ways to serve up snacks in the summer to your kids? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
