Are you getting excited or nervous for the upcoming holidays? I was just saying to my husband the other day that I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already here and then it’s the crazy month of December! Out of all the months in the year, this one is probably the most stressful for most people. There just seems like a never ending list of things to do that never seem to have enough hours in the day to do them. If you are looking for some ways to keep it together, here are 5 ways to stay sane this holiday season.
5 Ways to Stay Sane This Holiday Season
Learn to say no- It is so easy to overbook ourselves this time of year with parties, concerts and things to do. Don’t feel obligated to go to everything you are invited to. People will understand if you are just too tired or you don’t want to overbook yourself.
Hire some help- Who says you have to do it all yourself? Hire some help to get your home ready for the holidays from Angie’s List or find a babysitter to keep the kids occupied for a while on Care.com. And, do your budget a favor and don’t pay full price! Get on Groupon and find coupons to help you save on many service and websites.
Take some time for yourself- Don’t think you are being selfish, either. Taking time for ourselves is taking care of ourselves and during busy or stressful times, it is vital! If all you can do is get out and have lunch alone somewhere or find somewhere quiet to sip your tea or coffee, do it!
Do some shopping online- The good thing about our digital world is we can shop pretty much anywhere we want online now. If the crowds make you crazy, skip some of it and opt for online shopping instead. Let the gifts come to you!
Get some exercise- Exercise is important for stress relief. And in the winter, we tend to slow down on it because the weather is chilly and we would rather cuddle up in a warm blanket. Try to make sure that you get some exercise at least every other day this holiday season, even if all it is, is a walk.
