Touchback Ammonia- free Haircolor {Review}

It has been a while since I have been pregnant, but I remember wanting so bad to dye my roots because they were starting to give me the “skunk effect”. I knew that dying while pregnant is generally thought to be a no-no, so I just suffered through, and you can see from my pictures towards the end of my pregnancy that I was in dire need of a dye job.

I wish TouchBack would have been around then. Touchback is a safer hair dye. It is Ammonia, Sulfate and Peroxide free. There are many shades to choose from and many ways to add instant color to your hair.I tried out the Shampoo, Conditioner and Eyebrow pen. I was also sent the root color kit, but was not able to try it yet.

Since this last week has been so tough on me, I absentmindedly forgot to take a “before” shot of my hair, but here is one that was taken a couple days prior to my trying the Touchback System and below that, some shots after. I used the Dark Auburn Shade.

The Touchback shampoo is a foam that you rub into your hair, and leave in for a few minutes. The bottle says to wash hands immediately after using and to use care as to not get the product on bathroom surfaces.

The Touchback Conditioner is used in a similar fashion and the eyebrow pen is sort of like a felt tipped marker you use to apply to your eyebrows so they match your new color.

Pros:

I liked how easy the product was to use and it did add a bit of tint, but not a bold color as I had hoped. It blended my roots nicely, though, so this would be a great fix for badly showing roots. The eyebrow pencil was amazing. It was easy to apply, looked natural and matched the shade perfectly. It also stayed well on my eyebrows and did not run or smudge.

Cons:

I wish there was a bit more color to this. I had anticipated a lot more bold of a look because the product is highly pigmented. I ended up having to wash my hands several times with soap and water to get it off my hands and within moments of some of it touching my shower wall, it had dyed that area. The stain came out with a little elbow grease.

Verdict:

If you are looking for a “safe” dye, but not a ton of color, this is your product. For a more bold look, I would stick with traditional dyes.
