Let Sparx help you keep teeth happier this Halloween!

With all the sugar that comes with the Halloween trick or treating, many parents worry about how it will effect their child’s teeth.

Have you heard of Xylitol? It is a natural sweetener taken from sources such as birch trees and corn cobs that can actually help improve the overall health of your mouth!

Xylitol has a unique benefit of making it hard for bacteria to stick to teeth and cause cavities. Not only that, but it is low glycemic, so it is a suitable alternative for diabetics like myself.

One sweet treat you could hand out this Halloween is called Sparx, made by Xlear (“clear”). It has Xylitol in it and comes in a variety of sweet fruit flavors. I was sent a Hallowwen bag to try and I liked all the flavors. My favorite were the berry ones. SparX comes in flavors such as Citrus, Mixed Berry and fruit. They were a little harder than I had expected them to be and are kind of small, so handing them out to tiny princesses and dragons is probably not a good idea.

I do love that SparX is not only better for my teeth, but also better for my sweet tooth diabetes! When I was diagnosed as diabetic a few years ago, It was so hard, and it’s still hard, for me to give up candy and other sweets. It is also hard to find good tasting sugar free or low sugar/carb options.

I had previously heard about Xylitol because I buy it in bulk and use it to sweeten tea and coffee. You don’t notice a difference between it and sugar as it sweetens things very nicely. I love that it is a better alternative to sugar and derived from natural sources rather than man-made with chemicals.

This Halloween, consider handing out SparX to your trick-or-treaters. You can find it at Vitamin Shoppes nationwide or on the Xlear website.

  1. Wish I had gotten this to review myself.. Great review. Was wondering about it. Will definitely invest in it next year for my daughter. Halloween is our favorite but the candy part is the worst.. We already have One diabetic in the family we don’t want it to become more of a problem. I regulate the amount of sugar in our home so this would be awesome
