Smood {Holiday Gift Guide}

In this family, we love our mashed potatoes. I make some really awesome ones too that do not even require gravy and you can find my recipe right here on Saved By Grace!

I don’t like to use electric beaters for my potatoes. There is just something so satisfying about mashing the potatoes by hand. My husband says it’s me putting love into them.

I do admit though, after using a flat potato masher for a while, my wrist hurts and I work up a sweat, especially in my hot kitchen. That’s why I was so happy to be able to review Dreamfarm’s Smood.

For some reason, I really like the name “Smood”. It just is a fun word to say :)

The smood looks like a giant spiral whisk, but it is anything but that. It is a heavy duty-wrist saving-mashed potato maker! I love the built in scraper on the side as well. I found it great for keeping the sides of the pot clean while smashing my potatoes.

The Smood works in a very simple manner. First you trap the food under it, collapse the coils and smash! While I made mashed potatoes with it, I can see this working for just about any soft food such as avocados for guacamole, mashing fresh fruits for baby food, making applesauce and even mixing.

Trap!

Collapse!

Mash!

The Smood also has a silicone scraper attached to it for easy scraping out of the bowl when you are done smashing your food. I also loved that it was a quick clean-up and made making mashed potatoes less work and cut the time it takes to mash them in half!

The Smood is heavy duty and very well constructed. I can see it lasting for a very long time. The only draw back I found to it was it’s size. It is a bit larger for my utensil drawer.

I got my Smood is the color “Fire Truck”, but it also comes in two other colors: Charcoal and Avocado. It retails for $24.95. Make sure you find them on Facebook, too!
